Gaia (1st floor)   Gaia can be configured as an atypical studio apartment, with independent access from outside the building via a stone staircase that continues down to the shared courtyard, perfect for relaxing outdoors. Access to the interior of the house is through the living room area. The suite features a 145x200 cm double bed with an organic latex mattress. Inside, there is a wardrobe, a kitchenette with a stove and oven, a sink and dishes, a mini-refrigerator, and a folding table. For added comfort in the winter or for a summer barbecue, guests have access to a wood-fired bread oven with a chimney, a cast-iron griddle/heater, and a large single bathtub (1.90 x 0.90 = double-sized) in the bathroom. This bathroom, restored in 2000, is a landmark in local history, having been the first in the parish of Fajã Grande, built in 1929 by Lucindo de Freitas!
